Raphael Finkel is an American computer scientist and retired professor at the University of Kentucky who compiled the first version of the Jargon File, a glossary of hacker slang. He authored the textbook An Operating Systems Vade Mecum and the introductory book Advanced Programming Language Design, and with J. L. Bentley he created the quadtree, a widely used data structure for organizing points in multidimensional space.
