Micha Sharir (born June 8, 1950, in Tel Aviv, Israel) is an Israeli mathematician and computer scientist who holds the Isaias Nizri Chair in Computational Geometry and Robotics at Tel Aviv University. His scholarly reputation rests on contributions to computational geometry and combinatorial geometry across hundreds of published papers. He received the Israel Defense Prize in 1975, was elected an ACM Fellow in 1997, received an honorary doctorate from Utrecht University in 1996, the EMET Prize for Art, Science and Culture in 2007, and the Knuth Prize in 2025. He also participated in developing international programming language standards through IFIP Working Group 2.1, which maintains the ALGOL 60 and ALGOL 68 specifications.
