Thomas Lengauer

Thomas Lengauer (born November 12, 1952) is a German computer scientist and computational biologist. He earned degrees from the Free University of Berlin and Stanford University, and his career has spanned theoretical computer science, discrete optimization and computational biology. He directed the Department on Computational Biology and Applied Algorithmics at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics from 2001 until his 2018 retirement, and is recognized for the Lengauer-Tarjan algorithm in graph theory. He received the Konrad Zuse Medal in 2003 and became a Fellow of the ACM in 2021.
