Andrew Martin Steane is a professor of physics at the University of Oxford and a fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He studied at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, where he earned his MA and DPhil. His major work has been on error correction in quantum information processing, including the Steane code, and he received the Maxwell Medal and Prize of the Institute of Physics in 2000.
