Daniel Gottesman

Daniel Gottesman (born 1970) is an American theoretical physicist on the faculty of the University of Maryland, known for pioneering work in quantum error correction. He invented the stabilizer formalism for describing quantum error correcting codes, a mathematical framework that became central to the field, and later co-developed the Gottesman-Kitaev-Preskill code and the Gottesman-Knill theorem. He was named to MIT Technology Review's TR100 list in 2003 as one of the world's top innovators under 35.
