James Demmel

Theory of Computation

James Weldon Demmel Jr., born October 19, 1955, is an American mathematician and computer scientist, the Dr. Richard Carl Dehmel Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1999 he was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for contributions to numerical linear algebra and scientific computing.
