Cordell Green

Claude Cordell Green (1941 to 2025) was an American computer scientist and director of the Kestrel Institute who earned his PhD at Stanford University in 1969 under John McCarthy. He received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 1985 for establishing the theoretical basis of the field of logic programming, and the Stevens Award in 2002 for his work on software and systems development methods. Earlier in his career he worked at DARPA's Information Processing Techniques Office on the Speech Understanding Research Project and with Lawrence Roberts on the development of ARPANET. He was a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.
