Gary Miller

Gary Miller (Gary Lee Miller) is an American computer scientist and professor at Carnegie Mellon University, following earlier faculty positions at the University of Waterloo, the University of Rochester, MIT and the University of Southern California. His research spans computational number theory, primality testing, graph isomorphism, parallel algorithms, computational geometry and scientific computing. He earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975 under Manuel Blum with a dissertation on Riemann's Hypothesis and tests for primality. He became an ACM Fellow in 2002, won the ACM Paris Kanellakis Award in 2003, shared with three others, for the Miller-Rabin primality test, and received the Knuth Prize in 2013.
