Richard Helm

Software And Its Engineering

Richard Helm is a computer scientist known as one of the four co-authors, together called the Gang of Four, of the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software, an influential catalogue of recurring solutions in object-oriented software design. He received the ACM SIGPLAN Programming Languages Achievement Award in 2005, the Dahl-Nygaard Prize in 2006, and the ACM SIGSOFT Outstanding Research Award in 2010. He studied at the University of Melbourne and has worked at IBM.
