FAQs

What approach did Robert France's 1998 paper on the UML propose?

It used formal specification techniques to clarify what UML diagrams mean.

The paper The UML as a Formal Modeling Notation, which Robert France wrote with co-authors, proposed formalizing the UML by using formal specification techniques to gain insight into the semantics of UML notations and diagrams, and it described a roadmap for that approach. Its authors also started the Precise UML group to develop a precise semantic model for UML diagrams.
