Charles Esterbrook, who goes by Chuck, is the creator of the Cobra programming language for .NET and Mono. The Simple-Talk Geek of the Week interview of April 2010 calls Cobra the vision and work of one independent person over nearly a decade, drawing on Python, Objective-C, Eiffel and C#, and names it his second major compiler after several prototypes. He also created Webware for Python, an open source suite of web frameworks, and designed object-relational mappers, among them an open source one for Python called MiddleKit and a .NET one written before NHibernate was mature. He works as a consultant on application and artificial intelligence projects and lives in California. An MSDN Magazine article of June 2009 calls him Cobra's inventor and says he based the language on Python syntax.
