MATLAB is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment developed by MathWorks, allowing matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, and interfacing with programs written in other languages. Although MATLAB is intended primarily for numeric computing, it is fundamentally an interpreted scripting language, and MATLAB was created by Cleve Moler in the late 1970s.
