Miranda is a lazy, purely functional programming language designed by David Turner as a successor to his earlier languages SASL and KRC, and was first released commercially in 1985 by Research Software Ltd. Miranda was the first purely functional language to be commercially supported, and its combination of lazy evaluation, algebraic data types and list comprehensions strongly influenced the later design of Haskell.
