FLOW-MATIC, originally known as B-0 (Business Language version 0), is an early English-like data processing programming language developed by Grace Hopper for the UNIVAC I at Remington Rand in the early-to-mid 1950s. FLOW-MATIC was the first programming language to express operations using English-like statements, and it strongly influenced the later design of COBOL, on whose specification committee Hopper served as a technical consultant.
