In computer graphics, a digital differential analyzer, or DDA, is hardware or software used to interpolate variables over an interval between a start and end point, most commonly to rasterize lines, triangles and polygons. In its simplest linear form the algorithm interpolates by computing each successive point from the slope of the line between the start and end points, incrementing one coordinate by a fixed step and the other by that slope. Beyond straight lines, the DDA approach extends to non-linear functions such as perspective-correct texture mapping, quadratic curves and voxel traversal.
