Fields concerned with what can be computed in principle and under what assumptions. It covers the abstract machines and formal systems that define computation, the mathematical analysis of what can be learned from examples, and models in which computation can be run backwards without loss of information. A field belongs here when it defines or compares models of computation or learning. It excludes quantum models, which are treated in their own group, and applied machine learning, which belongs to Computing Methodologies.
