Parallel and Accelerated Computing

Fields concerned with doing many computations at the same time on a single machine or a tightly coupled system. It covers programming and hardware for multicore processors and massively parallel arrays, including the use of graphics processors for general computation. A field belongs here when its central question is how to split work across many processing units within one system and combine the results efficiently. It excludes computing spread across separate networked machines, which belongs to the distributed, cloud and edge group, and the theory of parallel algorithms, which belongs to Theory Of Computation.
