All Emerging and Non-Electronic Computing Substrates

Fields that compute with physical or biological media other than conventional digital electronic circuits. It covers computation carried out with light, with molecules of DNA, with continuously varying analog quantities and with circuits modeled on the structure of the brain. A field belongs here when the computing medium or the circuit organization departs from clocked digital logic. It excludes quantum computing, which belongs to Theory Of Computation, and conventional processors, which belong to Computer Systems Organization.
