Elixir (programming language)

Elixir is a functional, concurrent, high-level general-purpose programming language that runs on the BEAM virtual machine, the same platform that implements the Erlang programming language. It was designed by Jose Valim as a research project at Plataformatec, with its first release on May 25, 2012. Elixir is multi-paradigm, combining functional, concurrent, distributed and process-oriented styles, with dynamic, strong and, from version 1.20, gradual typing. It targets large-scale applications in telecommunications, e-commerce and finance that must handle high concurrency, low latency and large volumes of data, and is released under the Apache License 2.0.
