GNU APL is a free, open-source implementation of the APL programming language developed as part of the GNU Project, begun by Juergen Sauermann and first released in 2013, aiming to implement the ISO standard for APL, ISO/IEC 13751, as closely as possible. GNU APL provides both an interactive interpreter and support for APL's traditional symbol-based notation using Unicode APL characters, and is distributed under the GNU General Public License as a free alternative to commercial APL implementations such as Dyalog APL and APL2.
