Solidity is a high-level, object-oriented programming language for implementing smart contracts on blockchain platforms, most notably Ethereum. Solidity was designed by Gavin Wood, Christian Reitwiessner, Alex Beregszaszi and several former Ethereum core contributors, and is statically typed, supporting inheritance, libraries and complex user-defined types. Programs written in Solidity are compiled to Ethereum Virtual Machine bytecode and deployed on the blockchain for execution.
