Python is a general purpose programming language created by Guido van Rossum, first released in 1991, designed to emphasize readable, clearly laid out code over terse notation. It supports multiple styles of programming, including procedural, object oriented and functional, and its large standard library and even larger ecosystem of third party packages have made it one of the most widely used languages in the world, especially in data science, machine learning and scripting.
