86-DOS, known internally as QDOS for Quick and Dirty Operating System, is a discontinued operating system developed and marketed by Seattle Computer Products for its Intel 8086 based computer kit. It shared several commands with other operating systems such as OS/8 and CP/M, which made porting programs from CP/M easy since its application programming interface closely resembled that of CP/M. Microsoft licensed and then purchased the system and developed it further into MS-DOS and IBM PC DOS.
