AmigaDOS

AmigaDOS is the disk operating system component of AmigaOS, covering file systems, file and directory manipulation, the command line interface and file redirection, and it was built by Amiga Corporation for the Amiga line of computers, debuting in 1985. Early AmigaOS 1.x versions implemented it in the BCPL language, based on a port of TRIPOS by MetaComCo, while versions from AmigaOS 2.x onward rewrote it in C while keeping backward compatibility, and AmigaOS 4.1 added 64-bit file access. Its default interface is a command line that evolved into AmigaShell, adding command history and pipelines, and unlike many contemporaries it used the ISO-8859-1 Latin-1 character standard rather than a proprietary one. It supports command redirection, scripting and wildcards across multiple file systems, including FastFileSystem and Smart FileSystem.
