CDC SCOPE

SCOPE, short for Supervisory Control of Program Execution, is a series of batch operating systems developed by Control Data Corporation in the 1960s for its computer lines, including the CDC 3000 series and the CDC 6000 series, with a further variant for the CDC 7600 and Cyber 76. SCOPE was based on the earlier Chippewa Operating System and was later renamed NOS/BE, for Batch Environment, on CDC Cyber machines in the early 1970s. It was a multiprogramming system capable of running multiple concurrent jobs at once, called control points.
