ExA-Arcadia

Commercial Computer

ExA-Arcadia is a ROM cartridge based arcade system board, released by the game company of the same name on 27 November 2019. Development of the hardware began in September 2017, and the first title for it came from a former Cave Interactive staff member. Unlike most earlier arcade boards, which used custom chips, it is built from commodity personal computer parts: an Intel Core i3-8100 processor, 8 GB of DDR4 memory, an NVIDIA graphics chip and a customized version of Microsoft Windows as its operating system. Games ship on cartridges of up to 2 TB, output at resolutions up to 4K, and connect to cabinet controls through the JVS and JAMMA input and output standards. The platform accepts games made with engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, GameMaker Studio 2 and Godot. Cave Interactive joined the platform in 2020, and distributors in Japan, the United States, India and Indonesia have since carried it. At the time of its source article the platform listed 64 games.
