Amit P. Sheth is an Indian-American computer scientist who holds the NCR Chair and is a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of South Carolina, where he is founding director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute of South Carolina. His research spans the semantic web, information integration, knowledge-enhanced computing and neurosymbolic AI, and he earlier held the LexisNexis Ohio Eminent Scholar chair at Wright State University from 2007 to 2019. He earned a BS from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in 1981 and an MS and PhD in computer science from Ohio State University in 1983 and 1985, and received the IEEE Computer Society W. Wallace McDowell Award in 2023; he is also a Fellow of the ACM, AAAS and AAAI, and an IEEE Fellow.
