Bae Kyung-hoon

Bae Kyung-hoon is a South Korean artificial intelligence researcher and executive who has served as South Korea's minister of science and ICT and deputy prime minister since 2025. Born in 1976 in Seoul, he studied electrical engineering at Kwangwoon University before pursuing an MBA and an executive program on the business impact of artificial intelligence at MIT Sloan. He built his career in industry as an AI leader at LG, where he headed the company's artificial intelligence think tank and became a prominent advocate for building AI systems designed, trained and run wholly within South Korea. His appointment to the science ministry and deputy premiership placed one of the country's most visible corporate AI executives at the head of its national technology policy.
