Eduard Hovy is a computer scientist born in Johannesburg known for research in natural language processing and computational linguistics. He earned an MS in computer science from Yale University in December 1982 and a PhD in computer science from Yale in May 1987, and is a research professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Language Technologies Institute. He was one of the original seventeen Fellows of the Association for Computational Linguistics, and received honorary doctorates from the National University of Distance Education in Madrid in 2013 and from the University of Antwerp in 2015.
