Katia Sycara

Katia Sycara, born Ekaterini Panagiotou Sycara, is a Greek computer scientist and the Edward Fredkin Research Professor of Robotics in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science. She is internationally known for her research in artificial intelligence, particularly negotiation, autonomous agents, and multi-agent systems, with further contributions to case-based reasoning and the semantic web. She earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Brown University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a PhD in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and received the 2002 ACM/SIGART Agents Research Award.
