Maria Gini is an Italian and American computer scientist in artificial intelligence and robotics at the University of Minnesota's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, where she became the department's first female faculty member in 1982 and was promoted to professor in 1997. Her work addresses coordination and competition in multirobot and multiagent systems, and she has mentored 34 PhD students and nearly 100 graduate students as of 2019. She chaired ACM SIGAI from 2003 to 2010 and has served on the CRA-W board.
