Also Known As Charles William Bachman III
Information Systems

Charles Bachman was an American computer scientist who developed Integrated Data Store at General Electric in the early 1960s, one of the first database management systems built for business use. His work established the network model of database organization, later formalized by the CODASYL standards committee and widely used before the relational model became dominant. Bachman won the Turing Award in 1973, the first time it was awarded to someone working in industry rather than academia.
