James Won-Ki Hong

James Won-Ki Hong, born September 28, 1959, is a South Korean computer scientist and professor of computer science and engineering at POSTECH, where he has taught since May 1995. He directs the university's Innovation Center for Education and co-directs its Center for Crypto Blockchain Research, with a research program spanning blockchain, network management, network monitoring and analysis, information and communications technology convergence, ubiquitous computing and smartphone-based computing. He has held numerous leadership positions within the IEEE Communications Society and has chaired multiple international symposiums on network and service management. His work has helped shape the field of network management as network technology moved from traditional telecommunications infrastructure toward blockchain-based and ubiquitous computing systems.
