Jim Kurose (born 1956) is a Distinguished University Professor in the College of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, earned a BA in physics from Wesleyan University and a PhD in computer science from Columbia University in 1984, and his primary research and teaching focus is computer networking. In 2020 he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his contributions to network protocol design and analysis for multimedia communication. He received the ACM SIGCOMM Award in 2016.
