J.J. Garcia-Luna-Aceves

J.J. Garcia-Luna-Aceves is a Mexican-American computer engineer known for contributions to communication protocols, particularly network routing and channel access, who is a professor at the University of Toronto's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as of 2023, after holding the Jack Baskin Endowed Chair as a distinguished professor at UC Santa Cruz until that year. He previously served as a principal scientist at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, directed a center at SRI International after joining in 1982, and led protocol design at Nokia from 1999 to 2003. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 1977 and his master's and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is a Fellow of IEEE, ACM and AAAS.
