Reinhard Wilhelm (born June 5, 1946, in Finnentrop, Germany) is a German computer scientist known for his work on compiler technology. He studied mathematics, physics and mathematical logic at the University of Munster, then pursued computer science at the Technical University of Munich and Stanford University, earning his PhD in 1977. He became a professor at Saarland University in 1978, leading the programming languages and compiler construction department until his 2014 retirement, and served as scientific director of the Leibniz Center for Informatics at Schloss Dagstuhl from 1990 to 2014. He co-founded the ESOP and ETAPS conferences and established the company AbsInt in 1998, which produces software verification tools used in systems such as the Airbus A380. He received the Konrad Zuse Medal in 2009.
