Roy Fielding

Roy Thomas Fielding (born September 1965 in Laguna Beach, California) is an American computer scientist who is one of the principal authors of the HTTP specification and originated the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural style in his 2000 doctoral dissertation at UC Irvine, Architectural Styles and the Design of Network-based Software Architectures. He co-founded the Apache HTTP Server project and chaired the Apache Software Foundation for its first three years, later serving on its board until 2014. Fielding works as a senior principal scientist at Adobe in San Jose, California.
