Mads Tofte, born in 1959 in Lyngby, Denmark, is a Danish computer scientist known for his contributions to functional programming and the Standard ML programming language. He earned his doctorate at the University of Edinburgh under Robin Milner and went on to hold positions at the University of Copenhagen, the University of Edinburgh and the IT University of Copenhagen; his work was recognized with the Danish IT Prize in 2002 and the ACM POPL Most Influential Paper Award in 2005.
