Daniel Stenberg is a Swedish software developer best known as the creator of curl, a widely used command line tool and library for transferring data with URLs. Born and raised in Huddinge near Stockholm, he received the 2017 Polhem Prize for his work on curl, later joined wolfSSL to support the project full time, and has been active in the Internet Engineering Task Force working groups for the HTTP/2 and QUIC protocols. In 2025 the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences awarded him its Gold Medal for his open source work on curl.
