Dudley Allen Buck

Dudley Allen Buck (1927 to 1959) was an American electrical engineer and inventor of components for high speed computing devices in the 1950s. He is best known for developing the cryotron, a superconductive switching component that operates in liquid helium near absolute zero, and he also contributed ferroelectric memory, content addressable memory, non destructive sensing of magnetic fields, and electron beam techniques for writing circuits. He earned degrees from the University of Washington, George Washington University and MIT, and received the Institute of Radio Engineers Browder J. Thompson Award in 1957.
