Fujio Masuoka

Fujio Masuoka is a Japanese engineer who, while working at Toshiba in the 1980s, invented flash memory, developing both the NOR flash and NAND flash architectures that became the basis of nearly all solid state data storage in use today, from USB drives and memory cards to solid state disks in phones and computers. He later worked at Tohoku University and, in 1988, invented the first gate all around transistor, a three dimensional transistor design that influenced later generations of semiconductor manufacturing.
