Gurindar S. Sohi

Computer Systems Organization

Gurindar S. Sohi is a computer scientist and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, recognized for contributions to the microarchitecture of instruction-level parallel processors and for his broader impact on the computer architecture community. He earned his PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under advisor Edward S. Davidson, and his own doctoral students have included Amir Roth, Craig Zilles and Todd Austin. Sohi was elected an ACM Fellow in 2003, received the ACM/IEEE Eckert-Mauchly Award in 2011 and the Maurice Wilkes Award in 1999, and received the IEEE Computer Society Computer Pioneer Award in 2025 for his microarchitecture work.
