Horst Zuse is a German computer scientist, born on 17 November 1945, and the son of the computing pioneer Konrad Zuse. He studied electrical engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin and later completed a doctorate there on software metrics, the measurement of how complex software is. He worked as a Privatdozent at that university and was later a professor at the Hochschule Lausitz, a university of applied sciences. His books on the subject include Software Complexity: Measures and Methods (1991) and A Framework of Software Measurement (1997), both published by Walter de Gruyter. Alongside software engineering he has devoted himself to the history of computer science, including writing an account of his father's pioneering work on early computers.
