Jack St. Clair Kilby (November 8, 1923 to June 20, 2005) was an American electrical engineer who took part, along with Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor, in the realization of the first integrated circuit while working at Texas Instruments in 1958. For this invention, Kilby shared the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics. He was also a co-inventor of the handheld calculator and the thermal printer, for which he held patents, along with patents for seven other inventions.
