Security And Privacy

Jung Hee Cheon, born in 1969, is a South Korean cryptologist and professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Seoul National University, where he also directs the Industrial and Mathematical Data Analytics Research Center. His research spans computational number theory, cryptology and information security, and he is best known as a co-inventor of the CKKS scheme, a fourth-generation fully homomorphic encryption method that allows computation directly on encrypted real and complex numbers. Building on that work, he co-founded and serves as chief executive of CryptoLab, a company built around the HEaaN homomorphic encryption library he helped create. He has also contributed to the cryptanalysis of braid-group-based cryptography and the strong Diffie-Hellman problem.
