Ralph Lee Palmer

Ralph Lee Palmer (19 June 1909 - 10 May 2005) was an American computer engineer and IBM Fellow. After studying electrical engineering at Union College, he joined IBM in Endicott, New York in 1932, worked in World War II on the US Navy version of the bombe decryption system, was part of the team that designed the IBM 604 after the war, consulted on the development of the IBM 701, became Director of IBM's Engineering Department in 1954 and an IBM Fellow in 1963, and received the Computer Pioneer Award in 1989 for his work on the IBM 604.
