Randolph Frederick Pausch was an American educator and professor of computer science, human-computer interaction and design at Carnegie Mellon University. After a September 2006 diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and a terminal prognosis in August 2007, he gave a lecture titled The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams at Carnegie Mellon, which became a widely viewed video and led to a best-selling book of the same name. Pausch died of complications from pancreatic cancer on July 25, 2008, at age 47.
