Rediet Abebe is an Ethiopian computer scientist and assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, who develops mathematical and computational frameworks for studying inequality and distributive justice, leading the Berkeley Equity and Access in Algorithms, Mechanisms and Optimization research group. She cofounded Mechanism Design for Social Good, a research collective applying algorithms and mechanism design to problems of inequality, and cofounded Black in AI, an organization working to increase the presence and support of Black researchers in artificial intelligence.
