Sartaj Sahni

Sartaj Kumar Sahni (born July 22, 1949, in Pune, India) is a computer scientist and one of the pioneers in the field of data structures, serving as a distinguished professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. He earned a BTech from IIT Kanpur and a PhD in 1973 under Ellis Horowitz at Cornell University. He received the IEEE Computer Society W. Wallace McDowell Award in 2003, was elected an IEEE Fellow in 1988 and an ACM Fellow in 1996, and also received the ACM Karl V. Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award in 2003.
