Steve Lawrence is an Australian computer scientist who was among the group at NEC Research responsible for creating the search engine and digital library CiteSeer. He was a senior research scientist at Google, where he developed Google Desktop, and is currently a co-founder and chief technology officer at Xoo. His research interests include information retrieval, digital libraries and machine learning, and he has published more than fifty papers in these areas.
